The evening of brass performance last night in Beckwith was a heartening experience. Heartening because it appears that Neil Mueller, who coaches all the brass ensembles, has some players and knows what to do with them. It was impressive throughout, including through the several student ensembles, one of which, a brass quintet, featured one of own History majors, Sara Egge, on tuba. Do the historians know how good a musician she is? Do the musicians know how good a historian she is?

Let me say a word of praise for Erica Eckhoff and Scott Aubinger, who presented papers at the meeting of the Northern Great Plains History Conference last Thursday in Bismarck. Their papers were studies of the history of divorce done from the Fargo district court records in the Institute for Regional Studies. They wrote them during the Senior Seminar last spring. Their presentations were splendid, not only for the quality of written work but also for the professional manner of delivery. Well done, Erica & Scott.
